Chris Van Staden
Clinical Psychologist Registrar
Chris is a registered psychologist with a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland. He has been trained in numerous evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), to name a few.
Regardless of what type of therapy is used, Chris believes strongly in the importance of treating those he works with as people, rather than a set of symptoms or diagnoses. He aims to tailor therapy to the needs of each individual whilst also making use of their strengths and resourcefulness. If you choose to work with Chris, you can expect an open, collaborative, and non-judgemental approach that emphasises the importance of meeting you where you are at.
Chris welcomes clients of all backgrounds from adolescence to older adults. He has experience working with mood and anxiety disorders, drug and alcohol difficulties, ADHD, autism, trauma, and grief/loss. Chris has a particular interest in working with clients dealing with trauma experienced across the lifespan. He also has a passion for supporting first-responders through the consequences of the high-stress nature of their work.
Chris is available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursday mornings and Saturdays. He is accepting new clients.
